Ambassador of Sports
On Saturday, February 25th in
Accra, Ghana, the African Development Foundation (ADF) held a press
conference and reception at the Golden Tulip Hotel to officially
re-launch the Ghana Baseball and Softball Association (GHABSA). With
sponsorship support from Major League Baseball, Spalding and Adidas,
Mr. George Ntim, President and Founder of the ADF donated the first
delivery of an initial consignment of $100,000 in baseball supplies
and equipment to GHABSA.
With the full support and
cooperation from Ghana’s Ministry of Education and Sports, the
immediate goal in 2006 is to outfit and supply 1,500 children with
uniforms and equipment in preparation for regional competitive play
throughout the country. According to the Vice President of Ghana,
His Excellency Alhaji Aliu Mahama, sports promotes nation building,
so he is committed to working with ADF to make Ghana the center for
baseball development in Africa.
The
event culminated with George Ntim being appointed an Ambassador of
Sports for the Ministry of Education and Sports. In attendance were
